ImomoDoll Miko Arrival

It’s actually been a bit since my first Imomodoll arrived, but since I’ve got plans to customize/mod the head she’s been waiting in limbo for a while. I don’t usually post about unpainted dolls but I’ve seen a lot of questions about Imomodoll 1/4 size so I figured I could investigate a few. The body I’m reviewing in this case is the Imomodoll Mimi Rabbit body in Cream skin with small bust, a 1/4 vinyl doll that costs around $40 USD from their Taobao shop.

Does Imomodoll fit MDD clothes and shoes?

Yes, so far all the shoes and outfits that I’ve tried anyway, and odds are pretty good for shoes given her measurements. The legs are rather pudgy like mochi-ashi so there could be tights and pants that are a squeeze. Bust size will be a factor for the clothes as well, but so far my S-bust has been fine with MDD tops. This body is definitely a better fit for Volks MDD/MSD clothes than the 1/4 Tinyfox body.

Does Imomodoll fit MDD wigs and eyes?

The Imomodoll Miko head I acquired fits 8-9″ wigs just fine. Her eyes fit 20mm but there is a pocket of vinyl around them that you could potentially cut away to insert a bigger size eye.

Volks SWS vs Imomodoll Cream

Volks Flesh vs Imomodoll Cream

Does Imomodoll skin tone match Volks MDD?

Imomodoll ‘Cream’ skin is a bit more yellow than Volks semi-white skin but it’s close enough that a hybrid isn’t out of the question. It’s a good bit lighter than Volks Flesh, but a hybrid might work in some situations.

Modified Imomodoll neck peg

Can I put a Dollfie Dream head on the 1/4 Imomodoll body?

Technically you can, but the Imomodoll neck post is a lot bigger in diameter than the standard DD/MDD neck pegs so you risk cracking the vinyl of your DD head. I whittled the Imomodoll post down quite a bit in order to try some DD heads on it. After reducing the size of the post the Imomodoll head will fit a little loose, but the silicon washer that’s included will help it stay in place. I highly recommend doing this modification if you want to put a DD-compatible head on this body.

Volks MDD vs Imomodoll

Is the Imomodoll body too loose?

The 2.0 body has reportedly made improvements but this body still has some loose areas by default. The lower arm piece in particular fits loosely, it doesn’t spin around 360 but it has a lot more range of motion than MDD. It can cause the upper arm post to come out of place if you’re not careful to slide the slower arm shell down to the wrist completely when the elbow is bent. The thigh parts also rattle around a bit which can make keeping them aligned to the knee tricky, but that’s more of a visual/aesthetic issue. On the other hand, the hands are more firm than Volks vinyl and getting them off and on the wrist parts is a painful task best attempted with a hair dryer to warm the vinyl. The head and head cap parts are also firm, but by twisting the head cap around 90 degrees there’s enough leverage to pry it off without any other tools needed.

Imomodoll with SQ Lab head

Overall, while this body does have its flaws, the price is unbeatable and I would recommend picking one up to try it out if you’re in the market for a 1/4 vinyl doll to experiment with. As a cute display doll or something cheap you’d feel comfortable throwing in a bag for trips, Imomodoll is a solid bet.
